The Beauty of Brand-less Simplicity Part 2

Brand-less is practical, economical and simple.

At JJRS Living we value practicality and economy over branding. A brand-less philosophy offers this advantage over similar products with branding. Why pay multiple times the price for the exact same thing when you can pay much less for the same quality? It just makes sense.

There is a certain aesthetic with generic non branded designs. It confers a notion of simplicity and mundanity that frequently escapes us because we are usually confined within preconceived notions of quality. That is that something ought to be branded for it to be of perceived value. Unfortunately this is marketing manipulation that essentially has enslaved our thinking for the last many decades. When psychology was just purely for the study of human minds it eventually evolved into manipulation for monetary gains. This is such a shame.

Quality doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with branding. It has more to do with how it is made and whether or not it does suit your purpose at all and to what specificity. If your purpose is simple, casual, then something even made of “cheap” plastic will serve your needs very well when it matches your use case perfectly, and the price you pay correspondingly for it will be money very well spent. But if one is still wrapped up in the notion of branding then they might still think it is “cheap”, but for practicality purposes it certainly is anything but. And frankly speaking very very few products on the markets exactly fit our individual purposes, branded ones especially included.

So when it comes to branding, it really boils down to this: are you buying things because of vanity or are you buying things for practical reasons? And for practical reasons are you truly aware of the price you pay versus the actual value you have gotten? We often call this the “cost-price” value, which is how much value you get for a given price you pay. Good products offer high cost-price value, meaning the value you get is comparatively lower than the price you pay. And in reality, this is based on comparing a branded product to similar product that is offered as non branded from a factory-direct or wholesale avenue. Unfortunately the majority of consumers have a hard time convincing themselves that something almost exactly identical but only without a brand(or a famous easily recognizable brand) could do the exact same thing as a branded counterpart. It just is simply to difficult to believe otherwise. It does to show the extent of the brainwashing psychology we have been put under, so much so that it has become an unconscious reflex—we don’t even need to think—we just “know”—or assume we do at least!

Simplicity is an art form but also serves practical purposes. JJRS Living offers simple, design oriented and non branded products that satisfy your everyday lifestyle needs. We took away the fluff and just offer you the straight goods. So next time when you are about to make a purchase, you ought to really think if what you are purchasing is really for yourself(practical reasons) or to satisfy your vanity(ultimately detracting from your original goal, despite convincing yourself otherwise).
